i am JINX!!! Sigh..again!!
i has been working for six or seven years, i would said i have experienced lots of funny things and people at my work place..and here are lots of myths when you work back home, my favourite one would be we shouldnt bring PAU ( chinese bun with meat wrapped in wheat flour)to work…initially i find it very funny, WTH!! what is the silly PAU got to do with my work? Then all my senior at 5B told me: " cannot eat PAU or bring PAU to work, you see PAU looks white colour with meat inside right? just like when patient passed away we have to wrap them in a white sheet after last office.. soooooo…if u bring PAU to work, means you wanted to pack patient.." back then the silly me will show my innocent face more innocently and ask" really ah?" and of course i got the best answer-"REALLY.. see for myself"..true enough, every time when we got sick patient, and someone bring PAU and eat for lunch, thats it..end of story, we will have to pray for the patient and same time curse the fellow who eat PAU..WELL, things like that happen on and off, and i rather take it seriously than playing a fool, i always avoid eating PAU in the ward, reason being I always wanted my patient to survive, and i can have a easier shift:> BUT STILL..I hardly have any easy shift back home, when ever i was on , there are always lots of happening…i always blamed it on the "co-workers bad combination theory".. may be certain people who borned in certain date shouldnt worked together, just like i can never go on same night shift with wati back home, either we will admit 6- 7 patient in one night, or once worse, her patient jumped down from ward, or my patient passed away, then her patient passed away 15 minutes later…wow..happening. But at time goes by, nor matter who I on with, we will still be busy, so end of the day I am the culprit..JINX they said.. Dont on with Wong, she is so jinx..they even warned my student " becareful when you on with wong huh, sure busy one..hahaha" then my student will show the innocent face" really ah?" ofcourse my friends din throw stone at me becourse of that la…we still happily ever until one day i realise, eh..my jinx is gone..errrrrr..well, not completely but seems much better compare to my first three years.so, I din hear the "must be you on la" for quite a while…then suddenly ding dong..i heard it again yesterday..DAMN…reason being- i was backed from holiday for at least three weeks already, hence i started working for three weeks, and most of my shifts seems busy to me, may be partly is becourse i am still adjusting to the new environment, things get disorganise( but how patient not peeing during my time is becoz of my disorganisation leh?)..and these round of night shift is my worse night mare ever since i came to uk..first night, my patient not peeing, spending whole nite give these that just try to make him pee.. second night i was told that the patient should be better, everything looks good..then take over, din pee enough, got to put on filter..so whole night busy with the filter..third night for a change, take a easier patient for a change..then there is a collapsed..my previous patient..urgent thearter and all the drama..so i told the nurse- must be you, atleast he din collapsed last nite, hahaha :> then same day seven AM , my patient not breathing enuf, for re intubation:< shoot!!! What wrong ..Then my last night, i was hoping for a better luck, even change my hair band and put on different color underwear, may be the god of luck will take extra care of me for my special efford.. so, take back the same patient, seems recover better, aim for trachea insertion in te morning..after handing over, patient bp dropped..spending whole nite jus try to keep the bp till 6 am..cannot, have to start more drugs and stuff..so there goes i was running around till 7.30am handing over time..and person come on duty smile at me" haha, is must be you wong" " so what they said is right, you always very busy" " you are jinx"
sigh…what can i say… may be the color of the underwear is not right:<
( fo my non-nurses friend, we always treat patient with respect and care with all our heart, please do understand their condition turn bad is due to their own underlying problem, not becoz of the jinco nurse, we do have lots of patients go home fit and well, see for urself next time wen you guys get admitted..is true..:>)
